This year my wife Katie and I experienced the power of Humpty when our twins Anna and Grace were born six weeks prematurely. Our doctors decided to deliver the babies early due to a number of multiplying medical concerns with both Katie and the twins. As soon as they were born on February 13 Anna and Grace were put in a resuscitation cot donated by five-times Wimbledon champ Roger Federer and taken to the Newborn Care Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Anna and Grace spent the next three weeks in the centre and I can’t tell you how reassuring and heart warming it was to look around the ward and see little Humpty Dumpty signs everywhere – a permanent reminder of our generous supporters’ great big hearts.
While we were blessed and Anna and Grace have made a full recovery and are now at home with us, the experience was bitter-sweet, as well as an eye-opening education. As parents, we have seen what Humpty is putting into our hospitals thanks to you, our generous supporters, and we know first-hand the quality of the staff in our hospitals. There is no better feeling than seeing your generosity in action.
Humpty has made a difference, thanks to you. And we hope to keep on making a difference. On behalf of the thousands of sick and injured kids whom you have helped – as well as their families – I want to thank all of you for your kindness, your selflessness, and your support.
I’ve always known the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to be a special family, but now, looking from the inside out as a parent whose children have benefited from Humpty’s support, I understand just how important this great big family really is.
We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
