The Westpac Balmoral Burn was a huge success for Humpty with the event raising over
$1.2 million
for children’s hospitals across Sydney. The Balmoral Burn was a picture perfect
day with over 2,500 people enjoying the sunshine and watching the runners challenge the
hill.
It was a great day in the park for families with giveaways, baby animal farm, jumping
castle and a performance by the Fitness First Kidz Dance before the presentation plus live
crosses to the Footy
Show on Channel 9 as well as on Radio 2UE and Radio 2GB to cover
the event.
This years ‘Burn’ was strongly supported by the community and corporations with a record
of over
1,500 participants taking on
Awaba St for the kids in a variety of categories
including family events,
age categories, open events, school events and
corporate events.
The Open Male and Open Female event was well supported by many of Australia’s top
athletes
from the Olympics and Commonwealth Games including Lachlan Renshaw, Youcef Abdi, Nick
Bromley, Suzy
Walsham, Tiffany Bonasera and Meike Flore. Lachaln Renshaw won the Open Male race in a time of 1:20 and
Commonwealth Games representative Suzy Walsham won the Open Female race in a time of 1:39 - both these times are
the fastest
in the ‘Burns’ six year history. For their efforts both winners received a $3,000 Westpac bank account.
This year the Balmoral Burn had 65 companies competing in the corporate team relay and open team relay. Macquarie Bank
won the
corporate relay and South Pacific Private won the open relay – both coming first in their respective categories for
a second year in
a row, congratulations!

BALMORAL BURN SPONSORS' DINNER
The Balmoral Burn Sponsors’ Dinner was a night of mixed emotions. Prior to the dinner the sad news of Sophie Delezio’s accident
was well publicised and with the Delezio’s being part of the Humpty family the room felt their non-attendance and everyone was
praying that Sophie would pull through.
The night was full of special moments and it all started when the room stopped to listen to Phil Kearns tell his story, for the first time
in public, of his daughter Andie’s accident on 22 October last year. The dinner also had a lot of entertainment with guests
singing along to show tunes by The Leading Men and laughed at the irresistible one-liners from Vince Sorrenti.
It was also a notable evening of fine food and wine for the 500 invited guests with Serge Dansereau from Bathers’ Pavilion
creating a superb three course meal which was matched to the flagship range ‘Patricia’ from Brown Brothers.
The overwhelming individual and corporate support on the evening helped Humpty raise over $ 590,000 – without this outcome
Humpty would not have surpassed its goal of raising $1 million for the kids, but unbelievably the Balmoral Burn raised over
$1.2 million for children’s hospitals across Sydney.
This amazing result, which we have all been a part of, has put even more fire in Humpty’s belly to raise the much needed
money for medical equipment to care for our sick and injured children.
We look forward to seeing you all at ‘The Burn’ in 2007 – we hope it will be another big one!
